ALL AUSTINBURG RESIDENTS
Think Austinburg Sewer Project does not affect you???
Hey what is going on with this project?
THINK AGAIN…..
Residents in the affected area were quoted a price of $140.00 per foot property frontage on July 31, 2007 for the sanitary sewer project being constructed in town. A $4,000 tap in fee and additional contractor fees for installation & permits will also be charged.
How does this affect you????
Town Hall Approx. 185 foot frontage Approx. cost $ 25,900
Fire Hall Approx. 51 foot frontage Approx. cost $ 7,140
Township Park Approx. 647 foot frontage Approx. cost $ 90,580
Austinburg Elementary Approx 465 foot frontage
Approx. cost $ 65,100
TOTAL APPROXIMATE COST TO TAXPAYERS $188,720.00
(Tap in fees, contractor & permit fees are not included in this price and will be additional)
Who is responsible for paying these fees? Taxpayers!
How are we going to pay these fees? Less money for roads, bridges, snow
removal, or fire protection? Higher Taxes?

The meeting had over 300 people in attendance and John Broom of WFUN was the moderator.
From what I understand Mike Schaab and John Kusar organized this meeting along with supporting cast members.

Mr. Farinacci,
The Austinburg Sewer Committee would like to thank all those
who have helped the residents affected by the
sewer project try to save their homes and businesses.
Basic background; the County Commissioners with Ashtabula Co
Dept. of Environmental Services, Health Dept.,
and CT Consultants, held a meeting on July 31, 2007 and informed the citizens
that the front footage assessment
would be $140.00 per ft. This is in addition to a $4,000.00 tie in fee, costs
for installation of the line from the home
to the sewer main, permit fees, pump and back-filling of existing septic tanks.
These costs are completely unfair.
The sewer committee held its first meeting on August 19, 2007.
Since that time we have contacted state and federal
officials, and various agencies trying to find grants to reduce these
costs to our residents.
John Kusar has done a lot of research on different grants that
will help offset the costs to the residents affected by the
sewer project. He presented these grant possibilities to the trustees at
the October 1, 2007 trustee meeting. John has
also been looking at grant possibilities the county could apply for. We
sincerely hope his work is successful.
We will continue to update you as events unfold.
Sincerely,
Austinburg Sewer Committee
