TO RESIDENTS IN THE COUNTRYVIEW DEVELOPEMENT,
HELLO ALL.
THIS PAST SUNDAY, THE FIRST GORGOUS DAY OF THE YEAR, WE WERE
NOTIFIED BY OUR TOWNSHIP TRUSTEE LYNN FRANK THAT SOMEONE HAS A QUESTION IF WE
"ARE RUNNING A BUSINESS" OUT OF OUR HOME. WELL, IF ANYONE HAS
A QUESTION, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO COME OVER AND ASK US. OR GIVE ME A CALL.
WE HAVE BEEN BACK HERE SINCE 1986. ONE OF THE FIRST
RESIDENTS HERE. WE HAVE SUCCESSFULLY RAISED 5 CHILDREN IN OUR HOME.
THEY HAVE ALL GONE THROUGH AUSTINBURG ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AND ARE NOW EITHER
MARRIED, IN COLLEGE OR STILL IN THE JUNIOR HIGH OR HIGH SCHOOL. WE TEND
TO BE PRIVATE PEOPLE BUT DO GIVE A WAVE AT OTHER RESIDENTS THAT WE NOTICE GO
BY.
AS WE HAVE SEVERAL CHILDREN THAT DO DRIVE, WE HAVE A NUMBER OF
VEHICLES IN OUR DRIVE. AT ANY GIVEN TIME, THERE IS AT THE MINIMUM OF 5
CARS. ALL LICENSED AND REGISTERED TO OUR ADDRESS AND FAMILY MEMBERS.
THESE ARE NOT RUSTED OUT PIECES OF JUNK, THEY ARE ALL NEW OR NEWER VEHICLES.
SOMEONE HAS QUESTIONED THAT WE ARE RUNNING A BUSINESS HERE.
NO WE ARE NOT. WE HAVE A LARGE FAMILY, EVERYONE HAS A CAR AND WE ARE
ALLOWED TO GET VISITORS, AND MAY I ADD, THEY HAVE TO DRIVE OVER SINCE WE DO NOT
HAVE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION.
IF ANY CONCERNED RESIDENT HAS A PROBLEM WITH US, COME OVER AND
ASK. WHY GO TO A TRUSTEE? WE ARE NOT EVIL PEOPLE AND WE GET ALONG
WITH ALL. IF YOU THINK WE ARE DOING SOMETHING OUTSIDE OF ZONING
GUIDELINES, ASK BEFORE YOU SPEAK. IF YOU ARE CONCERNED ENOUGH TO WATCH
OUR HOUSE AND REPORT US, THEN YOU SHOULD HAVE ALSO NOTICED THAT
"ALL" THESE CARS ARE HERE DAY AFTER DAY. THEY DON'T CHANGE.
THEY DRIVE DOWN THE SAME ROAD AS YOU DO AGAIN, DAY AFTER DAY.
WE LIVE OUT HERE BECAUSE WE CHOOSE TO. WE ENJOY THE
PRIVACY. WE ALSO BELIEVE THAT IT HAS BEEN A GREAT PLACE TO RAISE
CHILDREN. THEY CAN HAVE FUN AND BE SAFE AT THE SAME TIME. THIS IS
NOT A CITY. WE DO NOT HAVE PAVED STREETS AND SIDEWALKS WITH STREET
LIGHTS. WE LIVE HERE BECAUSE WE DO NOT WANT THOSE THINGS. MORE
PEOPLE BACK HERE THAN NOT OWN ATV VEHICLES ALSO. KIDS RIDING ON THE ROAD
FROM ONE HOUSE TO THE OTHER IS AN ACCEPTABLE FACT. THEY ARE NOT TURFING
YARDS OR DESTROYING OTHER RESIDENTS DITCHES. THEY DO NOT RIDE AFTER
DARK. I AM GLAD THAT ANY CHILD CAN ENJOY THESE ACTIVITIES WITHIN THE
CONFINES OF OUR OWN NEIGHBORHOOD. MY CHILDREN HAVE ALWAYS HAD EITHER
DIRT BIKES OR FOUR WHEELERS. MOST EVERYONE IN THIS DEVELOPMENT HAS A
MOTORIZED ATV OF ONE KIND OR THE OTHER. I KNOW OF SEVERAL
"MULES", COUNTLESS FOUR WHEELERS, SEVERAL HARLEY DAVIDSON
MOTORCYCLES, AND DIRT BIKES. SO LONG AS NO ONES PROPERTY IS BEING
DESTROYED, WHY DON'T WE ALL JUST MIND OUR OWN BUSINESS. THERE IS NO
CRIME BACK HERE. KIDS WALK, RIDE BIKES, RUN, SKATE, RIDE ATVS, THAT IS A
GIVEN. BUT COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS PEOPLE, YOUR WINDOWS AREN'T GETTING
BROKEN, YOUR MAILBOXES ARE IN TACT, AND THERE ARE NO RAPES AND MURDERS GOING
ON. AND BE AWARE OF THE FACT THAT THERE ARE STILL PLENTY OF
"LITTLE" CHILDREN BACK HERE THAT WILL GROW UP TO ENJOY THE SAME THAT
THE OTHERS HAVE. IF YOU DON'T HAVE CHILDREN, YOU MIGHT HAVE MOVED TO THE
WRONG AREA. THIS IS NOT A SENIOR CITIZEN, CLOSED, GATED COMMUNITY.
IT IS A COMMUNITY WHERE CHILDREN ARE BEING RAISED AND DONE SO IN A SAFE AND
EFFICIENT MANNER. WE, AS ADULTS WILL HAVE TO DEAL WITH "THEIR"
MUSIC, "THEIR" TOYS. QUIET FRANKLY, IF YOU CANNOT ACCEPT THIS,
THEN MAYBE YOU SHOULD LIVE I A COMMUNITY WHERE CHILDREN ARE NOT ALLOWED.
SO, AFTER VOICING MY OPINION ON THIS PETTY COMPLAINT, AS I
SAID EARLIER, FEEL FREE TO GIVE ME A CALL AT 466-8277 AND ASK FOR MICH, OR
COME ON OVER AND WE WILL HAVE COFFEE!
MAY YOU ALL HAVE A SPECTACULAR SUMMER. FILLED WITH
LAUGHTER AND SUNNY DAYS. BUT, MIND THE 35 MILE PER HOUR SPEED LIMIT.
AFTER ALL, THERE ARE A LOT OF LITTLE ONES OUT THERE PLAYING SAFELY IN THE
ROAD.
THANK YOU,
MICHELE "MICH" METZ AND FAMILY
I feel an association on
the horizon for our neighborhood. It is always a few that ruin it for
others. Personally, I do not care who rides what as long as I do not hear
it. Unfortunately, this development is almost full and all have different reasons
for living rurally. I personally have talked with the kids riding in front
of my house and requested they slow down or ride on the other side. In
general, all have complied. My wife and I like to sit out on our porch and eat
in quiet, our prerogative. Remember while these toys make noise you may
have others trying to enjoying the outdoors in quiet. While the noisemakers get
to eat in quiet. I understand Michele's reasoning and have personally always
been able to communicate with the Metz's. When the cat's away the mice
will play.
As far as running a business in a
residential neighborhood; that is a zoning issue.
I would like to hear from the rest
of the neighbors of the Countryview Estates in Austinburg. Thank You for
using our website to voice your opinion.

Hi,
Just wanted to let you know what a kick I got out of reading about your
town. Sounds too great. And imagine my surprise to see your references to Aiken
and the photo's of our prison. I have a friend that just moved to your town from
Ashtabula. I envy him. Let me just say your Lost and Found was hysterical. Keep
up the good work........a friend in Columbia, SC.....Delores Seniw
Dear Mr. Farinacci,
As a new resident of Austinburg,
I would like to commend you on your efforts in the modernization of the
township. Your web page is very informative to new and existing residents.
I also agree with your thoughts on keeping Austinburg rural (even though I am
a new resident), It is one of the reasons my husband and I moved here.
You can count on our support in your upcoming campaign.
On another note, would you
possibly know who I might contact about the rules or zoning requirements
involved in building a barn and keeping horses on our property? I
appreciate your time and wish you good luck in the upcoming election.

I was born and raised in Austinburg Township. My father, M. L. (Tim) Herrick,
was at one time Pres. of the school board and a township trustee. He was also a
member of the Austinburg Fire Co.
I stop by the site now and then to see if I can learn any thing new.
